World of Warcraft Item Upgrades
Item upgrades provide players with the ability to upgrade their equipment that they already own. This can be done at any upgrader NPC.
Upgrades boost the stats of an item, and can also add extras based on its type. Examples include Whistan's shield, for FB Sorcs or Goldwraps for caster builds.
Armour
Armour is one of the key things that keeps Link protected from injury in most situations. Although it isn't upgraded like weapons, you can enhance its defense capabilities in different ways.
The fundamental idea behind armour is to protect the person or animal from physical harm or injury whether from physical assault or from various dangers posed by the environment and activities. Historically, the majority of armour was made of fabric or leather, but metal protections were also employed particularly for military purposes like heavy cavalry and combat drones.
There are many ways to upgrade armour but the majority of them require you to visit one of the four Great Fairy Fountains scattered throughout Hyrule. Each fountain has a distinct degree of improvement with higher levels of protection that require more rupees and materials.

Utility Items
Utility items are equipment which doesn't fall under the categories of Armor or Clothing and are able to perform a variety of capabilities. Some have additional abilities which are activated by pressing a button or triggering a skill.
The most popular type of utilitarian item is the Flashlight that is used to illuminate the surrounding area. Other items that are useful include the Helicopter Cap and Rocket Boots which allow the player to hover in mid-air when moving and the Jetpack which allows the player to accelerate in any directions while on the ground. A variety of useful items can be immediately produced in the Engineering section, while others are unlockable through Research projects or experimental projects in the Proving Ground.
Players can gain more powerful utility items in addition to the ones they have in their usual inventory by purchasing them from the Atomic Shop or from seasonal Scoreboard rewards. Some of these items can be upgraded for more efficient use.
Most utility items increase the combat ability of a particular character or provide the player with some kind of advantage when it comes to navigation. For instance, sharpening stones created by the Weaponsmith increase Ferocity and Power as well as Maintenance Oils created by the Huntsman increase Concentration and Healing Power. Other items of utility such as Writs or Theses created by the Scribe can be used to give the player an increase in Damage or Condition Damage.
All XCOM soldiers are capable of equipping one utility item at the beginning of the campaign. Eventually, an additional slot is made available by equipping certain types of armor or completing engineering, research or other projects in the Proving Ground. During the Alien Hunters downloadable content, additional slots can be obtained by equipping a Grenade Launcher. This allows the player to use the Smoke Grenade or Bomb while an offensive grenade is kept in the main slot.
