Diablo 4 Item Upgrades
Upgrades to items let players increase the level of equippable items like weapons, armor, and trinkets up to a certain amount. You can upgrade items at any NPC that accepts the appropriate currency.

Universal upgrades can be installed on any type of equipment. These upgrades have lower rewards than the ones that are restricted to certain types however, they are more easy to obtain. The amount of Flightstones and Crests needed to upgrade an item is determined by the level of the item. Blizzard also sets a maximum level for upgrades.
