Guild Wars 2 Item Upgrade
Item upgrade, also referred to as "upping," improves an item's stats. Each upgrade increment increases the stats linearly.
Players can recycle up to six items at a time in order to gain a level gauge for each of the upgraded components. The cost of recycling an item varies with its rarity and level.
Upgrade components
In Guild Wars 2, an upgrade of an item can be a method to increase the stats on your weapon and armor. This can be done through a number of means such as the use of upgrade components and also upgrading an item's mark levels or rarity. Many items can also be reforged to boost their value.
You can purchase upgradeable items throughout the game. They are available all over all over the world and are rewards for missions. They can also be created by players. The primary method to upgrade equipment is through the use of upgrade components which are items that can be inserted into equipment. Most equipment has slots that can be upgraded and some require a certain level of upgrade. Some upgrade components provide specific bonuses, while others give an overall bonus.
There are several types of upgrade components in the game, including universal upgrades, inscriptions, and jewels. Universal upgrades, like gems and enchantments, can be placed on any kind of equipment and offer lower bonuses than upgrades for specific equipment. More hints are only available in gathering tools and offer a variety of bonuses, ranging from increasing the speed of an item's gathering to providing additional crafting materials.
To upgrade an item, select it in your inventory, then open the Upgrade window. The preview will be displayed on the right-hand side of the screen. It will display the expected statistics after the upgrade. If you don't possess enough of either, the Upgrade button will say Blocked.
The upper-right corner shows the amount of upgrade components required to create an item. The price of an upgrade increases as the level and rarity of the item increase. However you can lower the cost of upgrades by purchasing them from a merchant or trading them with other players.
Most weapons can be improved with a prefix, like a rune or an insignia. Other weapons can be enhanced with the suffix. These upgrades add an adjective to the item's name for example "Radiant" or "Minor Vigor".
Glyphs
Glyphs can be used to communicate visual information. They move to catch the viewer's attention and spur curiosity in the brain. The animation of glyphs mimics the body language, making them more effective in communicating a linguistic barrier-crossing message. Glyphs also improve the recall of messages by creating an emotional connection in the brain.
Each glyph increases the value of a stat by a certain range. This is clearly displayed on the item when you open it in the Glyph Storage. This is the highest value that a glyph can enhance a stat by, not the amount that it actually improves it by. The value of the glyph will depend on the tier as well as the quality of the product you are admiring.
The majority of upgrade components that are inserted into items can't be removed or replaced without removing them except for legendary upgrades and equipment. If, however, you have a non-useful rune or glyph that has not yet been incorporated into your equipment, you can transfer it to a different piece of gear by using the Upgrade Glyphs context menu in the Glyphs panel. This will create a Glyph Set that includes the chosen glyph.
If you want to remove a glyph from an item you must salvage it with the help of a Black Lion Salvage Kit or Ascended Salvage Tool. This will cause the item to be destroyed within which it is placed but you will be able to salvage the upgraded item by using the glyph and its fragments, therefore it should not be considered a loss.
A glyph added to an item may cause it to be unstable, and the shards of that glyph will disappear from your inventory once you dismantle the item. You can also put an inscription to your equipment to give it a bonus. For example, the glyph Deferred Damage can store damage for the wearer and deal it slowly instead of all at one time. This is helpful for those who take a lot damage from their enemies but do not want to be overwhelmed.
Reroll tokens
Reroll tokens are used to change the affixes of weapons and equipment. They can be obtained from a variety of sources, such as mystery boxes or rare drops from skulled monsters, or by killing bosses. Each reroll token gives the player a brand new random affix, which is usually superior to the original. Reroll tokens can be used to boost the weapon's stats to increase damage or bonuses.
Rerolled items do not appear on the menu for item upgrades, but they can still be upgraded. Rerolled items can be recycled by pressing the "upgrade" button which alters the layout of the item window and allows up to six items to be selected to recycle. Recycling an item adds small amount of points to its level gauge. This amount is determined by the rarity of the item and its level, which means items with higher levels are more valuable to recycle than lower-level ones.
In addition to tokens for rerolls, players can make use of Star Remnants and Reroll Tokens to roll the Weapon Traits of an upgraded unit. Rerolls are based on a % chance to determine a weapon's trait. If it scores higher, then the weapon is upgraded. If it rolls lower, the weapon remains unchanged. Weapons can be upgraded up to three times.
Rerolling is a fantastic way to upgrade an item. However, players must be aware of the fact that the total ilvl will be diminished by the number of the rerolls required to bring it to the final ilvl. This effect is most noticeable on rings and Diadems, as they have no other options for raising ilvl.
Players have complained that the reroll system is too expensive. It's better to let people pay for it using money or food items, which would allow players to make adjustments to their builds without spending excessive amounts of time. However, paid rerolls are not something the developers want to incorporate at this point in the game's development. They're planning to include a potion that will allow players to alter their race in the near future.
Leveling
There are several ways to upgrade an item. The first is to increase the amount of upgrade, which increases the upgrade value of a given stat. The second option is to increase the effect of an upgrade, which increases damage or healing for a stat. The base item can be upgraded to an advanced upgrade type. The upgraded item will maintain its iLevel, but be upgraded to reflect the effects of the upgraded item.

The bonus effect will vary with each upgrade level however. In general, the effect of upgrading is increased by +3.
The iLevel can also change depending on the item's upgrade path and base level. For instance, a weapon that is upgraded from a unique or rare to a rare or exceptional item will be able to gain the Enhanced Defense of the new base type of item.
